서울시립 남서울 미술관에서 열린 조숙진 <지나가는 자리> 전시의 연계 프로그램으로 예술가의 런치박스 <소풍 추억>을 권순지 학예사님과 함께 진행하였습니다. 프로그램 구성을 위해 일찍이 작가님의 작업과 활동, 많은 기억과 음식들을 이야기로 전해들었습니다. 특히 뉴욕에서 지인들과 나누기 위해 만들었던 음식을 들을 때는 맛을 자연히 상상하게 되었습니다. 이야기를 통해 자연스레 작가님의 실천적이고 검약한 삶의 태도가 느껴졌고 닮고 가깝고 싶은 어른으로 다가오기도 했습니다. 건강 상의 문제로 함께 하지 못한 작가님의 빈자리를 권순지 학예사님과 열심히 채우고 전달해보고자 했습니다. 버려지는 나무를 모아 작업한 것처럼 홈그라운드에서 정리하는 기물들을 사용할 것을 요청 받아 야외 설치 작업과 어울리게 셋팅했고 프로그램에 사용하고 참여자들과 나눴습니다. 작가님이 알려주신대로 만들어 본 브라질아이스크림, 신김치 부르스게따, 케챱초고추장 소스의 비빔 메밀국수 덕분에 즐거웠던 여름날이었습니다. 의뢰: 서울시립미술관 학예연구부 전시교육과진행: 서울시립미술관 권순지, 김하연 / 홈그라운드 박소연 김다은 [August 27, 2026 Artist’s Lunchbox: The Generative Table Sessions 7 & 8 – SukJin Jo, <Picnic Memories> Program Preparation and Execution]As an affiliated program for Suk-Jin Jo’s exhibition <That’s How the Light Gets In> at Nam-Seoul Museum of Art, we hosted the Artist’s Lunchbox: <Picnic Memories> alongside Curator SoonJi Kwon.To design the program, we listened to the artist share stories about her work, practice, and the memories and foods attached to them. Hearing about the meals she used to make to share with friends in New York naturally made us imagine their flavors. Her practical, frugal approach to life—conveyed through her stories—resonated with us as an elder we deeply admire and feel close to. Although the artist could not be present due to health reasons, Curator SoonJi Kwon and our team did our absolute best to fill the space and pass on her vision.Just as her artworks gather and reassemble discarded wood, we were asked to repurpose materials and tools collected at Homeground.
